THE VILLAGE

THE VILLAGE (M.NIGHT SHYAMALAN)

M. Night Shyamalan's The Village is a horror film in 2004 which was set in the 1800s a rural Pennsylvania wooded area. The story of an isolated group of ancient martyrs, featuring horror inside and out. The story tells about a blind girl named Ivy Walker who is close to Noah Percy, a young man with a brain defect. They lived in a lonely forest village with the belief that the forest is haunted by the threatening darkness of nameless creatures that threaten by red ghosts with long claws and full of thorns - Those We Don't Speak Of so the villagers call them the life of a normal people is suddenly attributed with the turmoil where villagers were killed.

The village was led by 'the elders' who made all the decisions for the village and no one dared to argue. They are also the ones who always decide not to approach the forest that has been set as a limit that no one can go through. No one dares to approach this forest but there is Lucius, a young man who desperately wants to get into the forest. While Ivy is the only one who is considered to know much about the forest despite her blind eyes. They both keep the love for each other.

When asked about the movie, viewers who have watched it will know that the village is not as easy to get out of their village as there are rules that they must obey and beset by 'the elders'. The rules made are the agreement of the inhabitants with the mysterious creatures of the forest, the first, Do not let the unpleasant colors appear to them red. second, - Never enter the forest and restrict the boundaries of their route because there they will wait — the third, ring the warning bell when they come. When the 'boundaries' were set by the elders, it was Ivy Walker who crossed them. So it begs the question of why the boundary was created and what was the purpose? but the fact that the limit was made is actually nothing. on what we believe to be human creations that are believed to come from time to time, rooted in the minds of every believer in various ways, including threats and terror. This is because the purpose is to scare the residents and not want the villagers to leave the area because these older villagers have moved to the place and try to recreate a new society because so many tragedies befell them in the real world.

I think M Night Shyamalan is a very talented director who has a great skill in directing and producing horror films. although initially, the storyline is a bit slow, it is a wonderful movie to watch if we understand the storyline until the end. More than just a beautiful storyline, the editing of the film is flawless and the actors are superb and their characters, in particular, are Bryce Dallas Howard who plays a very brave and self-reliant blind woman. In the beginning, I saw that this movie was a bit silly because in this story, how a father gives his son permission when a man is hot and you send a blind woman to track through some woods to reach road somewhere and get help. imagine that why her father himself did not go and get help and through the story only I know that it is a love story and that is how Ivy saves Lucius from death. That is just a scenario in which Ivy could still go-getting help but when I was watching this film, I was waiting for some hint explanation but it never came.

However, I still enjoyed watching The Village because as for me, it is actually, a wonderful film to watch if you watch twice or several times to actually understand well about the film in spite of all the problems and the film is very well acting, in addition, the cinematography and every shot in this film is beautiful in every frame from a color perspective. The message of the story is not just telling about a girl who sacrifices her loved ones by being brave to cross the woods and finding a way to seek help for medicine but also teaches us that this movie shows me that the limit is actually just an imaginary line drawn by certain people so that we can just be bold in it and easy to control. On the other hand, it's up to us whether we believe in those boundaries or not, because in reality they never exist.
